At the Port Olímpic in Barcelona, Rotopile supplied 46 helical piles for an onshore pergola, beside the marina. Installation was carried out by our client, Muroxs.
The setting brought its own challenge: the proximity of the marina and the influence of the tidal zone, with saltwater affecting the water table.
The piles, in Ø88.9 × 9.0 mm tube with a Ø400 mm helix, were sized at 5 to 6 metres long, matched to the made-ground conditions. Turned in by rotation, with no excavation and no concrete, they gave a fast foundation well suited to the marina environment.
