A Quarter Century of Helical Piling

The very first helical pile, installed by hand in 2001 The very first pile. Installed by hand. 2001.
2001

Manufacturing Begins

Helical pile manufacturing started in Finland with a simple idea: foundations should not need concrete, excavation, or weeks of waiting. The very first pile was installed by hand.

2003

First Piling Machine

An old soil investigation rig was adapted to install helical piles. This made it possible to take on real construction projects and move beyond hand installation.

2005

Excavators Take Over

Trials with different installation methods showed that excavators were far more efficient than crane trucks. This insight shaped the installation approach still used today.

2006

First Large-Scale Project

The first large-scale project delivered several hundred piles for a plant nursery, proving that higher volumes and more demanding jobs were well within reach.

2007

Own Motors & First Export

To solve the problem of sourcing reliable rotary motors, the group began manufacturing its own. The same year saw the first international delivery, to Congo.

2008

Into Hardware Stores

DIY helical piles reached Finnish hardware stores, giving private builders a simpler alternative to concrete. Sales grew quickly and soon expanded into Sweden.

2010

New Facility & First Agent

Operations moved to a larger production facility. International growth began with the appointment of the first certified agent in Sweden.

2014

Railway Infrastructure

Foundation solutions for railway infrastructure began. A road-rail excavator was acquired to enable efficient installations along rail tracks.

2016

Projects in Germany

Projects were delivered in Germany, strengthening the ability to operate internationally with mobile equipment and experienced teams.

2017

Belgium & UK

New certified agents joined the network in Belgium and the UK, supporting growth across key European markets.

2018

Czech Republic & Iraq

Two major international projects marked a milestone: rail foundations in the Czech Republic and foundation solutions for an oil refinery in Iraq.

2019

HELIX Product Line

The HELIX product line was launched, offering improved DIY piles with better usability and durability. The new series quickly gained popularity.

2020

Spain & Italy

Demand for home and garden construction rose sharply and DIY pile sales grew. At the same time, operations expanded into Spain and Italy.

2021

Portugal & Power Lines

Rotopile began operations in Portugal, bringing helical piles made in Portugal and Finland to the Iberian market. The group also started delivering foundations for electric power line infrastructure.

2023

UK & Latvia

Two significant international projects were completed: a large electrical compound project in the UK and a 19,500-pile installation across wetland terrain in Latvia.

2024

USA & New Markets

The group launched projects in Poland, delivered its first installations in the USA, and returned to Iraq for a new large-scale foundation project.

2025

71,000-Pile Solar Park

One of Europe's largest helical pile projects began: a 129 MW solar park in Finland with over 71,000 piles. Interest from the energy sector kept growing, especially in battery energy storage (BESS) and power line foundations.

What Your Project Gets

From a single design consultation to full turnkey delivery with tens of thousands of piles.

Helical pile manufacturing and welding at the production facility

Helical Pile Manufacturing

Your piles are manufactured at the group's production facilities in Portugal and Finland, under EN 1090, with high-quality structural steel and full material traceability on every order. The piles are available in two steel grades of your choice: S355/S420 structural and S550 high-tensile. Hot-dip galvanisation is available to EN ISO 1461. Standard sizes ship from stock; custom dimensions are produced to your project requirements with short lead times.

Certified Production

Your piles are produced in a facility that manufactures under EN 1090. All welding follows European structural standards, so you can trust that the piles match the design specifications.

Material Quality

Piles are manufactured from high-quality structural steel and are available in two grades: S355/S420 structural and S550 high-tensile. The steel is traceable from mill to finished product. Hot-dip galvanisation to EN ISO 1461 is available for long-term corrosion protection, even in aggressive soil conditions. Material certificates are available on request.

Standard and Custom Manufacturing

Standard pile sizes are available from stock for fast delivery. If standard sizes are not the best solution for your site, piles are manufactured to your project requirements. Lead times for custom orders are typically 2 to 4 weeks depending on volume. Whether your order is 20 piles or 20,000, you receive the same certified quality.

Quality System

The production facility operates under ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management). Every batch undergoes quality inspection before dispatch. Your delivery includes full material documentation, CE marking, and a Declaration of Performance.

Helical Pile Installation

An experienced installation crew comes to your site and ensures every pile is driven to the torque that matches the required load capacity. Typical installation speed ranges from 20 to 150 piles per day. The wide range reflects differences in soil conditions, site access, and pile size.

Experienced Installation Teams

Our installation crews have worked on projects ranging from a single residential foundation to industrial sites with thousands of piles. Your project benefits from field-tested methods refined over more than two decades and 2,500+ completed projects across Europe and beyond.

Torque Monitoring and Load Verification

Every pile is monitored with calibrated torque equipment during installation. The measured torque values are documented and correlated with the designed load capacities, giving your project a verified foundation performance record from day one.

How Installation Works

Helical piles are driven into the ground using hydraulic rotary heads mounted on excavators. The pile advances into the soil without vibration and without excavation. Your site stays clean, your neighbours stay undisturbed, and there is no concrete curing time. In most cases, the structure can be loaded immediately after installation.

Flexible Delivery Models

You can choose turnkey installation, or you can rent equipment and train your own team to install. Both options are fully supported with technical guidance and on-site assistance when needed.

Installation Training for Your Team

Your crew can learn helical pile installation directly from our experts. Training covers equipment operation, torque monitoring, quality documentation, and site safety. Available on-site at your location or at the group's production facilities in Portugal and Finland.

Helical pile foundation design and engineering

Helical Pile Design

Your foundation is calculated according to Eurocode standards, taking into account the specific soil conditions and structural loads of your site. Our engineers support your project from initial feasibility assessment through to final pile layout and load verification.

Eurocode-Based Structural Design

All pile designs follow Eurocode 7 (geotechnical design) and Eurocode 3 (steel structural design), including the relevant national annexes. We provide load capacity calculations for compression, tension, and lateral loads based on site-specific soil data. The calculations document the factor of safety, pile spacing, and estimated embedment depth.

Site Assessment Support

When geotechnical survey data is available, our engineers recommend the right pile solution for your site. We always recommend a soil survey and are happy to help you get started if one is not yet in place.

Engineering Collaboration

We work directly with your structural engineers, geotechnical consultants, and project managers. Your team receives technical data sheets, installation specifications, and connection detail drawings to integrate into the overall structural design. All documentation is provided in formats compatible with your engineering workflow.

From Concept to Installation Plan

The design process covers everything from initial pile selection to a finished installation plan with coordinates, pile types, and target torque values. Clear documentation ensures smooth progress from design to installation.

Helical Pile Design Training for Engineers

Engineering offices can book a training session on helical pile design principles, Eurocode application, and pile selection methodology. Delivered by engineering staff with 25 years of practical design experience.
